GPC Holiday Recap

At GPC, we take full advantage of spreading cheer and celebrating the season of giving. As 2021 comes to a close, we’ve rounded up all the festivities and philanthropic partnerships GP Center has been a part of this season so we can take a look back. Happy holidays!

Thanks-for-Giving Coat Drive

This winter, GP Center partnered with the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District’s Social Impact Safety Team, A.S.I.S.T., to invite tenants to donate new or gently used winter apparel (hats, gloves, scarves, and coats) to children and adults experiencing homelessness. So far, GP Center has donated over seven boxes of winter wear to the cause. The donation boxes can be found at both building entrances until December 31st.

Angel Tree

In the spirit of giving, GP Center continued the long-held tradition of participating in the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Program, which provides gifts to those in need. The process begins as The Salvation Army gathers referrals for recipients from social service agencies and schools. Once accepted as an Angel, donors can shop from their Christmas wish list. This year, tenants were encouraged to pick an Angel tag from the display in the building, or shop from the online collection. While 2020 presented new challenges for the program, we are happy to share that we saw an increase in participation in 2021, and all angels were selected.

December Blood Drive

To support the American Red Cross, we held our final blood drive of 2021 on December 1st and December 2nd. The Red Cross is experiencing a historically low blood supply, so we are beyond grateful for those who donated. For this drive, we had a total of 46 units collected, which equals 138 potential lives saved!

If you could not stop by, catch us at our next drive in March 2022. For more information on the American Red Cross and their services, visit https://www.redcrossblood.org/

PRISM: Winter Lights

PRISM: Winter Lights is a two-month public art exhibition curated by Dashboard displaying light-based works by national and local artists. This year marks the third year of the lights, but this 2021 will include additional artwork at a second location, Peachtree Center. Visit the beautiful display near GPC anytime from December 4th through January 31st. More information on this event can be found at http://www.dashboard.us/prism2020

Live Music at GPC

What are the holidays without music? We were joined by some very special musical guest performances in the GPC Lobby this December, including a violist + cellist duo, a jazz trio, and a harpist. Each performance took place during lunch so tenants could come down and enjoy some holiday classics.

Eat, Drink, & Be Ugly Sweater Party

On December 15th, GP Center encouraged tenants to get a little ugly at our Eat, Drink, & Be Ugly Sweater Party. Held in the GPC lobby and 4th floor mezzanine, we stuck with tradition by gifting tenants with Nothing Bundt Cakes, then spiced things up with a build-your-own hot chocolate bar, charcuterie cups, and vegetable crudité. A social sharing photo booth was set up to give tenants the opportunity for festive photos, as well as to keep track of the #UglySweatersofGPC contest. Kim Brown took the win with her homemade sweater featuring a garland tree, some of her favorite characters, as well as a riddle (the “missile-toads” can be seen on her sleeves). Thank you to everyone who participated!
